Inside Caernarfon Castle
The interior of Caernarfon Castle, looking eastwards. Caernarfon Castle is an English-built fortification dating from the High Middle Ages that is located in the Royal Town of Caernarfon, in Gwynedd, Wales. It is a World Heritage Site, and a major piece of Welsh history.
The castle fell in to a state of disrepair upon the ascension of the Tudor dynasty to the throne of England. The Tudors had English, but also Welsh heritage, and cemented a more peaceful relationship between the two peoples after they became rulers of the Kingdom of England.
