Penicuik House from South Bank Wood
Penicuik House from South Bank Wood, taken 6 years ago
Penicuik House was the seat of the Clerk family, but was badly damaged by fire in the 19th century. The graceful spire crowns the former stable block, now the family house, with a dome to the right. The remains of the house itself are partly hidden in the trees on the left, by the tower crane. On the skyline are (L to R) West Kip, South Black Hill and Scald Law, at 579m the highest of the Pentland Hills.
