Roadside Shrine by the old A39
I don't know the story behind this shrine but it is likely that it commemorates a child who was killed on this road. Around 100 children are killed on British roads every year while walking or cycling and getting on for 3000 seriously injured. I can't help feeling that if these deaths were being caused by anyone other than motorists the government would make great efforts to reduce this number.
