Opened in 1864 by 'The Good Design Lodge' a local Friendly Society, it became 'The Electric Picture House' cinema in about 1911 showing some early silent movies. It had subsequent incarnations as 'The New Theatre', a roller skating rink, dance hall, labour exchange, library and is now sub-divided into apartments Link
