Hexagonal Wheel Shed, Botton Farm
Not uncommon on the North York Moors but it's rare to find one that hasn't been converted. This barn would have originally housed a horse wheel where one or more horses would have turned a wheel to provide power for agricultural machinery.
Horse Gin House
Horse gin houses date from the late 18th or early 19th century and housed a wheel or gin which was turned by a horse walking around in a circle. A belt from the wheel would have been fed into the adjacent barn to provide power for machinery such as a threshing machine.
