Geranium Sylvaticum or "Mayflower"
The wood crane's-bill has slightly smaller flowers than those of meadow crane's-bill, which often occurs in the same field. They are a distinctive bluish-violet colour. Another distinguishing feature is that the fruit-pods of wood crane's-bill are normally held erect, whereas with the meadow crane's-bill they tend to droop.

Wood crane's-bill is a characteristic plant of northern meadows and also occurs in wet woods, along streamsides and on moist, semi-shaded verges. It is a good choice for tall meadows on moist, reasonably base-rich soil
