Plum's Emsworth (26)
These houses in Victoria Road would have changed little since Wodehouse walked past them on his way from Emsworth Station to his home in Record Road. What he would have made of White Van Man must remain conjecture!
A literary inspiration
Visiting the splendid Emsworth Museum LinkI picked up a leaflet costing 10/- (50p) entitled "A walk around Emsworth with PG Wodehouse". Starting at the railway station it guided me around what he called "this sleepy-by-the-world-forgotten sort of place". The names he encountered here inspired many of his most splendid creations: The Duchess of Havant, Lord Bosham, Lady Ann Warblington, The Hon Galahad Threepwood and his woolly headed elder brother Clarence Link
