Bobbers Mill: remains of crossing-keeper's house
Bobbers Mill: remains of crossing-keeper's house
This derelict building was built by the Midland Railway as a home for the level-crossing keeper. The crossing was superseded when Bobbers Mill Bridge and the new main road were built in the late 1930s, but the gates and the nearby signal box remained into the 1960s. Alan Murray-Rust's SK5441 : The Leen Valley Railway at Bobbers Mill looking north shows this building before its roof timbers were removed. The blue-brick pier of the footbridge - shown in Alan's photo and others - is on the right.
