The path leading towards Peanmeanach is shown in the foreground. Believed to have started in the vicinity of Peanmeanach NM7180 the fire burned for several days spreading as far as the railway line & A830 at Loch Dubh NM7483. The press reported the rescue of a 27-year-old woman from the western tip of the Ardnish peninsula. She was picked up by the Mallaig Lifeboat as her campsite had become encircled by the fires.
