Moorland above Cwm Doethie Fach, Ceredigion
This landscape shows the bleached out tussock grass so widespread in winter across the parts of the Elenydd moorland plateau not covered in coniferous trees. March, after a dry spell, is by far the easiest time to walk across open access terrain like this. By the summer, vigorous new growth makes the going heavy even over the non boggy bits.
The land ahead dips into Cwm Doethie Fach, a tussocky and boggy valley now that there a few (or no) sheep grazing in it.
