The Parade Ground inside Fort Nelson
The Parade Ground inside Fort Nelson
Fort Nelson was built in the 1860s as one of a ring of Victorian artillery forts to guard the naval dockyard against a feared French invasion that never materialised. It now houses the Artillery collection of the Royal Armouries museum, and is well worth a visit (it's free!).
