TL5663 : Swaffham Prior

Swaffham Prior
Swaffham Prior
The B1102 Cambridge - Burwell road by-passes Swaffham Prior, leaving the village as a sleepy but attractive backwater. The 'Prior' part of the name denotes that the village was once a manorial possession of the Bishop of Ely, as distinct from nearby Swaffham Bulbeck which was a possession of the de Bolebech family.
