SP6309 : Windsock at Oakley Airfield
near to Worminghall, Buckinghamshire, Great Britain

Windsock at Oakley Airfield
There is no sign of any current flying activity at the deserted former RAF Oakley airfield, but this windsock is still maintained here beside the two main runways.
The runways themselves, although grown over with small weeds like in this picture, are not obstructed with anything of any size.
In an emergency I think small aircraft could still get down here reasonably safely, so I'm guessing that's what this is about.
Are some old airfields kept clear for emergencies?
