Burgess Park changing scene
Burgess Park changing scene
Burgess Park in inner south London was created over an area which had previously been built-up. Some redundant roads were grassed over while others were left in place where they have decayed. During late 2011 major work will be undertaken in Burgess Park to remove most of the remaining redundant roads and the park will be re-landscaped.

In the background can be seen a block of the Aylesbury Estate, representing the area's more recent history. The estate, built around 1970, is also due for redevelopment. Further in the distance, work is progressing on building the "Shard", which will be the tallest building in the European union when it is completed.
