Rattlebrook Peat Railway
Rattlebrook Peat Railway
This is the end of the line, or rather the start of the line. Hereabouts would have been a hive of activity as peat cut from the hillsides of Kitty Tor and Amiscombe Hill ahead of us was brought here and loaded onto the wagons of the horse-drawn railway for delivery to Bridestowe station, seven miles away. Now it is a desolate place, an embankment on bleak moorland with no features visible in the mist.
