Altar of Reconciliation in the old Coventry Cathedral
Altar of Reconciliation in the old Coventry Cathedral
On the night of 14th November 1940 the city of Coventry was blitzed by the German Luftwaffe destroying the cathedral. As the cathedral burned two of the charred roof beams fell in the shape of a cross. Lashed together they were placed in the ruins on an altar built from the rubble. The words 'Father Forgive' were added in 1948.
