Sheffield: hailstones hit Tudor Square
Sheffield: hailstones hit Tudor Square
I was in Sheffield for the seventeen days of the World Snooker Championship, 16 April to 2 May, during which time it was warm and sunny for sixteen and a half days! It rained for only about an hour and a half in the whole time - all of it in this one storm on St. George's Day. An hour earlier and the threat of this storm was barely visible in the sky, while two hours later, despite the heaviness of the rain, it had cleared such that the pavements had completely dried out.

We look here towards the canopy of the Lyceum Theatre from similar shelter outside the Crucible Theatre.
