SX4057 : London to Penzance line
near to St Stephens, Cornwall, Great Britain

London to Penzance line
Looking towards Penzance from the public footpath where it crosses the railway. This route was opened in 1908 replacing the original railway which ran much closer to the shore line. See the OS 1:25000 mapping to follow the route of the old railway between Marsh Coombe and St Germans.
Note the naturalised rhododendrons on the bank. There has been an extensive and successful clearance initiative over the last 10 years or so to reduced these estate escapees which were threatening native woodland species a few years back.
The bridge is the view point for SX4057 : Heading towards Saltash which shows the bridge from which this photograph was taken.
