View westward, towards Reading etc.; ex-GWR Paddington - Reading and the West main line. 'Castle' No. 7018 'Drysllwyn Castle' had a short life, built 5/49, fitted later with a double-chimney and withdrawn in 9/63. This is not the 'Drysllwyn Castle' preserved at the Didcot Railway Centre, which was built in 5/36 but renamed 'Earl Bathurst' in 8/37 and withdrawn as such in 5/63. It was saved from the Barry Scrapyard in 3/69 by the Great Western Society and restored to main-line working order. It has since run on many Rail Tours, using one or other of its names.
