The Big Pit mining museum
The Big Pit mining museum
The Big Pit was a working coal mine until the arrival of Thatcherism closed most of the UK's coal mines. Fortunately, this unique piece of industrial heritage has been saved from the bulldozers and is now a museum, including a guided tour down the mine itself! Highly recommended.
