The Palladian Bridge - 1
The Palladian Bridge - 1
Spanning the Serpentine River, this bridge is one of three almost identical bridges in the UK - the others being at Wilton House by Roger Morris for the Earl of Pembroke (1737 - see SU0930 : Wilton House the Palladian Bridge ) and at Prior Park in Bath for Ralph Allen probably by Thomas Pitt (1755 - see ST7663 : The Palladian Bridge, Prior Park Garden, Bath ). The Stowe bridge was completed in 1738, probably by Gibbs.
