Market Cross
Market Cross
The Market Cross is also visible in SJ8445 : North end of the Guildhall. This cross was erected in 1820 and replaced a medieval cross that had originally been restored in 1575. In 1984 the original top stone and column were replaced and repairs were carried out to the lamp bracket, steps and some of the other stonework. 2006 saw further restoration with the original bottom step being replaced, the lamp bracket being repaired again and more stonework being repaired.
