ST1973 : Footpath leading onto the Cardiff bay barrier
near to Penarth, The Vale of Glamorgan/Bro Morgannwg, Great Britain

Footpath leading onto the Cardiff bay barrier
The semi-tropical plants look a bit out of place at the northeastern end of the barrier. The barrier shields Cardiff bay from the tides. It runs from this point to the southeast (right) towards Penarth Head, which can be seen behind the shelter on the right. The water at the centre of the picture is the tidal Bristol Channel/Môr Hafren outside the barrage. The islands of Flat Holm and Steep Holm can be seen on the horizon. They are about 9 and 13km away, respectively.
