Fish ladder in Cardiff bay barrage
The fish ladder allows fish up to a certain size to pass through into the freshwater lagoon on the landward side. There is a grid at the upstream end which prevents larger sea creatures to pass through at high tide and get trapped.
Although not 'ancient and historic' yet, the barrage is registered in the Coflein[1] database Link
