Old quarry at Buckland Rings being used by mountain bikers
Old quarry at Buckland Rings being used by mountain bikers
Looking north from the southern edge of the grid square. Just north-east of the ramparts of Buckland Rings iron-age camp is this old quarry (looks like a sandpit) which is used by local teenagers as a place to practise their bike stunts. Beech and silver birch grow in the sandy soil, and the Lymington-Brockenhurst single-track railway can be seen in the background.
