Looking towards Stoke.

The former North Staffordshire Railway route from Stoke to Cauldon Low Quarry opened in 1867. It closed for freight in 1988 (passengers in 1965), but the recently formed Moorland and City Railways Company has plans to re-open the line. Steam trains already use the section beyond Leekbrook, to the near the quarry. The branch line to Leek may also re-open.
