NS2975 : Europa
near to Greenock, Inverclyde, Great Britain

Europa
The Europa from the Netherlands is 28.16 metres high above the waterline and 44.50 metres long. It was built in 1911 as a Bargue 3 Rig and has a complement of 66 crew (16 Officers and 50 trainees). I arrived early to the festival on the Sunday and had the opportunity to have a look around the Europa before the crowds made queues too long to stand in, and it is a truly stunning ship, as several crew members on the other ships agreed. The flag suspended at the right of the picture shows what she looks like in full sail which I thought was a great idea because most people will only see her at berth.
Tall Ships Race 2011 - Greenock
The first Tall Ships Race of 2011 was from Waterford, Ireland to Inverclyde, Scotland and the arrival of the ships at James Watt Dock and the Great Harbour in Greenock marked the start of a four day festival of fairs and entertainment from the 9th-12th July.
