NS5283 : The West Highland Way at Dumgoyne

taken 7 years ago, near to Dumgoyne, Stirling, Great Britain

The West Highland Way at Dumgoyne
The West Highland Way at Dumgoyne
Just to the north, behind the photographer's position, the path crosses NS5283 : The main road through Dumgoyne. The section of the path shown in the present photograph follows the course of an old railway line; see NS5283 : Site of Dumgoyne station, 1997, taken 14 years earlier.

(Compare NS4786 : Water pipeline access, on a different dismantled line.)

Visible to the right of the path, and running parallel to it, is a long mound, where (as a nearby interpretation panel explains) pipes carry water from Loch Lomond. For more on the path and the water pipes, see NS5281 : West Highland Way towards Dumgoyach bridge.

The hill on the skyline, behind and to the right of the mast, is NS5181 : Quinlochmore, whose summit I had visited an hour earlier (one of a couple of digressions that added to what would already have been a twenty-mile walk home the other, earlier in the day, was when I had gone aside to look at NS5380 : Duntreath Standing Stones).
