The West Highland Way at Dumgoyne
Just to the north, behind the photographer's position, the path crosses NS5283 : The main road through Dumgoyne. The section of the path shown in the present photograph follows the course of an old railway line.
(Compare NS4786 : Water pipeline access, on a different dismantled line.)
Visible to the right of the path, and running parallel to it, is a long mound, where (as a nearby interpretation panel explains) pipes carry water from Loch Lomond. For more on the path and the water pipes, see NS5281 : West Highland Way towards Dumgoyach bridge.
The hill on the skyline, behind and to the right of the mast, is NS5181 : Quinlochmore, whose summit I had visited an hour earlier (one of a couple of digressions that added to what would already have been a twenty-mile walk home – the other, earlier in the day, was when I had gone aside to look at NS5380 : Duntreath Standing Stones).
