Kinder Scout
Kinder Scout
Kinder Scout is a high moor that suffers from extreme erosion. In some areas the peat is completely devoid of plant life, where this occurs the peat is easily washed away by rain and the bedrock is exposed, this can be seen in this photograph. Attempts are being made to save this precious landscape, small dams are being placed in the water courses to help retain moisture in the peat, areas are to be fenced to keep sheep from the highest parts of the moor and replanting will be required.
