Rafters - are you ready?

The annual raft race on the River Bladnoch from Bladnoch Bridge to Wigtown Harbour took place on Sunday 17th July 2011. Rafters and rafts assemble at the side of the Bladnoch in front of the Bladnoch Distillery - not such a good idea methinks! Eight craft of assorted styles and buoyancy took to the water in the hope of completing the 2 mile course in the best time.

Wigtown and District Community Festival 2011

The annual community festival in 2011 ran from Saturday 9th July until Sunday 17th July. It included something for everyone:- fancy dress competition, chocolate making, fun fete, concert, pool tournament, folk music, pairs bowling, 10K fun run, pet show, open golf tournament, line dancing, car treasure hunt and a raft race. The event was sponsored by many of the local businesses and shops and visiting tourists had the opportunity to experience some of the local culture in Wigtownshire.
