The octagonal, ten storey, 163 feet or about 50 metre high, pagoda was constructed between 1761 and 1762 to the designs of Sir William Chambers. Each of the upper storeys is arcaded and balconied with "Chippendale" Chinese style red railings. It is a Grade I Listed Building.
