Loughborough: Great Central Railway & ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 48305
852 Stanier 2-8-0 8Fs were built from 1935 onwards. This one was outshopped as London Midland & Scottish Railways Number 8305 in 1943. It was withdrawn as British Railway's 48305 in 1968, being one of the last 300 or so locomotives to work into the final year of steam power on British Railways. It then spent the next 17 years languishing in a scrapyard in Barry in South Wales before being rescued for restoration and preservation, and being delivered to Loughborough in 1985.
