Weld at sunset on Niddry Bing
Weld at sunset on Niddry Bing
The oil-shale bing is a weird, rather lunar landscape at sunset. Weld, or Dyer's Rocket, grows well on the calcerous shale. The plant is used as a yellow dye. The oil-shale is still being excavated at Niddry Bing and is used as hardcore in road construction.
