The brewery was set up in 2001 using the redundant milking parlour in the traditional farm buildings at Achadunan, Cairndow.

The first commercial brew was Highlander, brewed on St. Andrew's Day 2001.

The design of the brewery and the process of brewing was arranged to make as little environmental impact on Glen Fyne as possible. Water is sourced from a burn above the brewery. The draff is fed to a fold of Highland cattle, and yeast and hops are used as a fertiliser on the farm.

Ales regularly brewed:

Highlander: Full bodied, bittersweet ale with a good dry hop finish. In the style of a Heavy although the malt is less pronounced and the sweetness ebbs away to leave a bitter, hoppy finish.

Maverick: Full bodied, roasty, tawny best bitter. It is balanced, fruity and well hopped.

Avalanche: This true golden ale starts with stunning citrus on the nose. Well balanced with good body and fruit balancing a refreshing hoppy taste, it finishes with a long bittersweet after-taste.

Piper's Gold: Fresh, golden session ale. Well bittered but balanced with fruit and malt. Long, dry, bitter finish.

Vital Spark: A very dark red ale with powerful fruit and malt flavours developing to a long dry finish.

In addition some seasonal beers brewed include Innishail, Crannog, Somerled, Cairn Dhu and Holly Daze.
