the Gardens have recently undergone a complete transformation, with the restoration of statues, fountain and the gates. The central fountain was originally unveiled in 1871, with statues of Edward VII (pictured) and a bronze of Commander E Smith, Captain of the ill fated Titanic, added in 1908 and 1914 respectively.
