Eros and café, Sefton Park, Liverpool
The Sefton Park Eros fountain is a second cast of the one in Piccadilly Circus, London. In 1991 conservators found that the aluminium figure of the Sefton Park Eros was in an appalling state. One wing had been partially torn off and the raised leg was split open and in danger of falling off. In 2008, after extensive restoration, the statue was returned to the park. A new aluminium Eros statue replaced the original which is now in Liverpool's Conservation Centre. The Aviary Café in the background also benefited from extension and renovation as part of the recent restoration work in the park.
