A magnificent example of Victorian polychromy (although the bottom two floors were not originally painted). It looks as if it is made out of sweets. Pevsner describes the style as "vigorous Lombardic Gothic". Striped voussoirs and colonettes abound beneath a terracotta cornice. It was built in 1861-62 as offices and warehousing for Messrs Hunt & Crombie, spice merchants. The architects were John Young & Sons. Grade II listed.
