NJ5715 : Vintage rally: Stanley Steam Car I am indebted to a viewer/SSC-owner [Pat Farrell] for the following data:
"From what can be seen in your photo of the white painted Stanley steam car, it is a 1919 Stanley model number 735. It is right hand drive, 20 hp engine with most likely a 23" diameter fire tube boiler. It is geared 40 to 60. It will burn about any fuel but was designed to run best on kerosene for the main fuel. At best, 10 m.p.g. can be expected for fuel mileage. It has a condenser that increases the water range from 1 mile to the gallon for the earlier non-condensing Stanleys to about 5 miles to the gallon on this later condensing Stanley. It will cruise nicely at about 40 to 45 m.p.h."
