Path to a reen bridge, Whitson
Path to a reen bridge, Whitson
Without knowledge of the local geography, the presence of a gate without hedges or fences either side would appear to be baffling. The explanation is that a reen (drainage channel) serves as a natural barrier. The open gate is at the edge of a bridge across the reen.
