Events over the weekend included Armstrong's Lost Garden NZ2563 : A garden on the Swing Bridge, Newcastle Gateshead Bridges Festival, a model boat regatta, live music and street theatre, Quayside seaside area NZ2563 : Palm Beach on Newcastle Quayside and much more.
The 'Showboat', at 9pm on Saturday night, was a performance by 'Walk the Plank' Linkset on the River Tyne between the Swing Bridge and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. The light and pyrotechnic display, to a musical score featuring sounds from the Port of Tyne, was designed to celebrate the life of the River and its iconic bridges, including marking the 10th anniversary of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Movement and lighting of the Swing Bridge, originally built in 1876, were designed by artist, Johnny Goodwin, changing every hour through Saturday and Sunday nights of the festival.
