taken 13 years ago, near to Eyke, Suffolk, England
Viper's bugloss (Echium vulgare)
The plant flowers right into autumn. It loves well-drained sunny sites, and self-seeds into dry gritty pathways without becoming a difficult weed. It is included among the species found in a 15th century Gaelic medical manuscript, where it is recommended as a vitamin boost after blood-letting. For a wider view of this location see >
