Inside the workshop, Hayes Knoll Station, Swindon and Cricklade Railway (3 of 3)
The workshop contains various engines and rolling stock under repair and restoration. In view is a shunting engine originally in service with the WD & HO Wills fag-making factory in Swindon. It was built in Leeds by John Fowler and Co in 1933. It was presented to the S&CR in 1980 when the factory closed. Legend has it that Swindon works fitted the diesel-powered locomotive with a steam-style chimney as a joke when the locomotive was once sent there for overhaul. It is named 'Woodbine' after the staple product manufactured in Swindon. This and other pictures of mine from today were taken at a Steam and Vintage rally at the heritage railway.
