Microhydropower plant - Cricklepit Mill, Exeter
Microhydropower plant - Cricklepit Mill, Exeter
Installed in late 2010 and not running when seen due to low flow. The display material is short on nuts and bolts but this appears to be a crossflow turbine with a belt drive to an alternator mounted above it in the box. The tube bottom right is the fish bypass tube. There is a turning waterwheel beyond it and another wheel is hidden out of view to the left of the frame. This was the second such installation I had seen in a week - vouching for the popularity of renewable energy sources.
