Segregated shared use path on Great Ancoats Street, Manchester
A nicely positioned warning sign and some ribbed paving to grab your wheels, both are clear reminders to any cyclist that might dare think otherwise, that the cycle path hasn't been completed and they have to rejoin the carriageway.
Note the advance stop line reservoir, which only extends across the kerbside lane. As there is no kerbside feeder lane on the carriageway there is no legal way for a cyclist to pass the first stop line when the lights are on red, except from the shared use path. The shallow depth of the reservoir would mean that a cyclist entering in front a HGV would be in the vehicle's blind spot. Not good.
