The Little Pond isn't actually all that small - having an area of about 30 acres (according to Farnham angling Society LinkExternal link ). The pond is of man-made origin, having been created as a fish-pond for the benefit of the Bishop of Winchester in the 13th century.

In the present day, the pond is managed by the National Trust. While the south-eastern arm is managed as a bird sanctuary, angling and swimming are also accommodated.
