Byland Abbey
Byland Abbey is a ruined abbey in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire.
It was founded as a Savigniac abbey in January 1135 and was absorbed by the Cistercian order in 1147. It was dissolved on 30 November 1538.
Impressive remains of monastic buildings, standing to height of approximately 5 metres in places, including the lower half of a huge rose window can still be seen. The site, listed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument Link
