Line of the old Union Canal, Exchange Place
Line of the old Union Canal, Exchange Place
The paving band running along the street follows the line of the Union Canal where it connected the now filled-in basins of Port Hamilton and Port Hopetoun. The latter was the terminus of the canal and lay between Semple Street, behind the camera, and present-day Lothian Road.
