DLR near Custom House
A Docklands Light Railway (DLR) train approaching Royal Victoria station. Just visible in the background is Custom House station. This section of the DLR opened in 1994. The DLR system is fully automated, with trains driven by computer.
To the left of the railway is the remains of an older railway line. This was a suburban line from Stratford to North Woolwich, which closed in 2006. The route is to be re-used for another new railway, Crossrail, which will provide a West-to-East link through Central London and to Docklands.
