View across Slough Dyke towards Cromwell Lock
Slough Dyke is now a fairly insignificant drainage channel but was once the River Trent itself. The Trent was notorious for changing its course and several former courses can be traced in this area. The land to the west of Slough Dyke is still part of the parish of North Muskham although the village lies to the west of the current channel.
