The siding in view is the position of Hawes Junction where the line from Hawes and Northallerton joined the Settle & Carlisle route but which was closed in 1959. It is the long term aim of the Wensleydale Railway, which currently runs from Leeming Bar to Redmire, to extend to Hawes and Garsdale.
